Moscow from the sky
We had some delicious dinner at the hotel.

Roast beef with vegetables cooked in a pot
The hotel was an amazing deal two rooms for around $100 that included dinner and breakfast, it was very nice.
In the morning we were meet by Nikita who was generous enough to show us around Moscow. We caught the metro to get to the city center. The metro stations were very beautiful and ornate.

We were able to see St. Basil's Cathedral
The Red Square
St. Basil's Cathedral is at the end of the Red Square
Lenin's Tomb
The Kremlin
The wall surrounding the Kremlin over looking the Moscow River
The entrance to the Kremlin
There are many cathedrals in the Kremlin. Every Tsar wanted to build their own private cathedral. They are extremely colorful and ornate on the inside.

The palace
It was the Russian Orthodox Easter today as well, Moscow was beautifully decorated.

Of course we couldn't help but notice the plants just beginning to emerge in Moscow.

A small Ficaria verna in the lawn outside the Kremlin

Tulips coming up in front of the old Moscow University
After a few hours touring Russia we flew to Volgograd. I was very excited to get to see Oleg Korotkov who I had traveled with when he came to the United States last October with the peer-to-peer exchange program. We are looking forward to tomorrow when we will get to be out in the field observing wet lands and unique plant material.
