We were met by Vladimir Shatko at the airport. Vladimir went on the Colorado/Utah trip last summer, so it was great to see him again! He helped us check in to our hotel rooms and stayed for dinner.
Igor Smirnov also joined us for dinner at the hotel. Ben tried borscht and dumplings and enjoyed both! I also had a great mushroom soup. We talked about our itinerary for the next two weeks and found out that Vladimir and Svetlana Potapova will be our two guides. Svetlana travelled to Missouri Botanical Garden last fall, and we look forward to our time in the field with her.
Tomorrow should be a good day for pictures, as we are going to the Moscow Main Botanical Garden and to Red Square later in the day.
