Today, everyone was up early and anxious to get out the door. Despite a long but enjoyable hike the day before, today's hike was not for the novice hiker. Jet lag and all, we pushed onward. Jen and Derek planned a day at the top of Coby Peak in the Grand Teton Mountain Range.
To get to the summit, we cheated. We rode the Aerial Tram at Teton Village up to 10,450 ft. above sea level. We snooped around the summit and found many alpine plants that are endemic to North America (too many photos to share, WiFi here is spotty). We trekked back down the mountain via Aerial Tram and took the Gondola up to another peak. From there, we hiked to the base of the mountain. During our 8 mile hike down, we witnessed how the vegetation changes as you descend. For us and any plant nerd out there, it was a day to remember.
Looking ahead, we will spend the majority of tomorrow with a field botanist in Grand Teton National Park. From there, we journey to Yellowstone National Park. Unfortunately, we have no internet access at our housing. The blog will be put on hold for 4 nights. No worries, we'll catch everyone back up once we regain WiFi in Glacier National Park.
