UC Berkeley BG and Regional Parks Botanic Garden at Tilden

Hey everyone, sorry this entry is late. Our team had a long day (arriving at our hotel around 10pm), and the internet wasn’t functioning well.
On Wednesday morning, August 10th, we toured the botanic garden at UC Berkeley with horticulturist Gideon Dollarhide (who will also be joining us for the rest of the trip). UC Berkeley Botanic Garden’s collection houses about 12,000 different taxa. Even with the time constraints, we did get to see a vast array of displays. By the way, "woah" and "wow" are now two very common words being used by everyone on the team.

After a quick picnic, we paid a visit to the nearby Regional Parks Botanic Garden in Tilden. This garden focuses on displaying California’s native flora, arranged by geographic distribution. Their collection includes 2,395 different taxa, and has the best representation of Arctostaphylos.

We met Bart O'Brien (Manager of RPBG)

Arctostaphylos montana ssp. Ravenii
Arctostaphylos regismontana
