Mama Duck Leads the Team into the Mountains

FYI: this post is late because our last hotel was located in a small mountain town with unreliable internet.
On August 13th, our team arrived in Etna. After a quick meal of super tasty burgers and fries (if you ever find yourself in Etna, CA Dotty’s is a great place to eat), we set out on a high altitude adventure in the mountains of Kangaroo Lake (on the Fen Trail, Klamath Region). At first, our pace was fairly slow with a lot of heavy breathing (except for Dave aka “momma duck” from now until the end of the trip) as everyone adjusted to the elevation (estimated 6500ft). We didn't have a guide for this hike, since it's the weekend, but we were well equipped with wildflower and tree guides.

Endless vistas to be jealous of.

  1. I believe what you have listed as campanula is actually Gentiana calycosa. A very nice find.

    1. Hey Mike, thank you for letting me know! I was so sleepy when I wrote this entry that I was making so many mistakes. Luckily the spelling errors were caught before submission (I think...) but I definitely missed that genus mix-up. Thanks again and I'll update with the correction!
